Welcome to the Senior Arts Foundation
The Senior Arts Foundation (SAF) connects persons over 50 with the arts. SAF was established in 2007 to bring the arts to older adult communities. We believe the arts are essential to human connection, dignity and well-being. Through funding, partnership and advocacy, we aim to ensure that older adults can enrich their lives and strengthen their communities with better arts programs that inspire joy and imagination and foster social engagement.
Our Vision
We support nonprofit organizations that bring arts programs directly to older adults. We help them expand their reach, deepen their impact and sustain high-quality arts programming for older adult communities. We champion innovation, collaboration, and accessibility so that every older adult can experience the transformative power of the arts.
About Us
SAF has its origins with a group of instructors at Santa Monica College and SMC Emeritus College working with older adults. They came to understand the importance of the arts in the process of aging – not only as therapy but as a valuable asset seniors can offer to society.
We believe in honoring the wisdom of older adults, celebrating their creativity, and ensuring they remain active participants in the cultural life of their communities. By supporting those nonprofits that make our vision possible, we work together to build our future where the arts continue to uplift, inspire and connect us across all stages of life.
